Might Need A Syringe Of Re-Animator Fluid, Later

I’ve gone through the notes, now it is time for the creation to come alive. I like a story when it is noted down, but I fucking love it when it’s talking to me. I have to get a feel of how all the characters talk, how they interact, and I only get that through watching them. Observing like I’m Uatu kicking back on ole Luna and just checking it all out.

I was writing a Space scene the other day and a character said something that has completely added a new sub-plot, but I didn’t take the line out, I am just going to change things around to make it all fit. I was very happy when the character said it, but that never came through in the planning process. It was spontaneous, it was a surprise, a secret, that was waiting for me. Perhaps that reflects just how poor a writer I am…or just how great I am…nah, probably the former.

Now I’m scripting up my secret idea, that is now allowed to be stolen, so I will call it purloined because, though it still means the same thing, if I say that word the romantic tones with which the word echoes forth make me sound slightly nobler.

I’m looking forward to writing these scripts, and I look forward to having some new aspects come to life in front of me.

In other news; I have now had to split my trade collection. Marvel and Image on one shelf, DC (with Vertigo and WildStorm, natch) and other ancillaries on another. So I now have those two shelves, plus a shelf for my Daredevil trades, then another shelf for my DD single issues. The bottom shelf is full of quality runs, either things I am buying now, or things that are just good; The Boys, Iron Fist, Casanova, Batman, All-Star Superman, Astounding Wolf-Man, Resurrection, Avengers: Initiative, Captain America’s Streets of Poison arc, Nightcrawler 12 issue run, Kirkman’s Marvel Team Up with first issue signed, Clerks and co, The Thing From Another World series’, Pizza Man, Green Arrow: Year One, Kevin Smith’s The Evil That Men Do signed, all Marvel Zombies, a signed Hellblazer by Sean Phillips, Ultimate Wolverine Vs Hulk (which I want Damon Lindelof to finish) and some firsts like The New Mutants, Spider-Woman, Astonishing X-Men, Snake Plissken, Who Wants To Be A Superhero? Feedback issue, Kevin Smith’s Green Arrow, Zombies V Robots.

I’ve sent away other major collections to the back room; Venom, EC horror, Star Wars, Simpsons, and the Onslaught saga and the Age Of Apocalypse. Other shelves already out the back with a lot of random stuff on it; Moon Knight, G.I. Joe, Avengers, Captain America, West Coast Avengers, X-Factor, X-Force, Classic X-Men. Most of it all inherited stuff that I like to keep around, you never know.

I also just tidied up and found my initial notes for a DD flick. Have to touch on them every now and again.

Watched The Big Sleep last night, goddamn it is good. Bogart is just a legend that will never be equalled. He was a man who could stand tough against others without a gun and one who all the ladies loved. This from a short guy who wasn’t exactly good looking, but man he carried it so well. That movie need never be made again because it was perfect, exactly what the novel was. And funny as hell!
