Marko Djurdjevic – A Love Letter Written In Blood
Marko Djurdjevic is a genius, there is no other way to put it. I first noticed his work on the covers for Daredevil. His cover of DD and Gladiator wrestling on the ground just blew me away. It was the sort of picture you just wanted to sit close to and really look at for ages. There was grit and character and substance and depth. I was instantly impressed. His future DD covers have completely won me over, with my favourite being the cover to #105 with DD reflected in Mr Fear’s mask. The rendering on the mask is just faultless, and the look on DD’s face is so well done. I have used the pic as the backdrop for my phone, I love it so much.
He also does covers for Ghost Rider which are just unreal. He makes the ol’ flamehead just look so, well, flamey. He creates flame and light in his pictures that are just unbelievable to look at. His Iron Fist on the cover of DD #100 was great, and the Ghost Rider in #21 up to #24 just really stand out to me as awesome pics.
When he does a cover it feels like the first time any person has ever done anything like it before. His style just stands out as well and above the crowd, and not just above, but across and the street and already three shouts ahead at the bar.
Here is his Marvel Cover Gallery, completely worth a look.
Here is a link to the Sidebar podcast that he did, either download it from the site or type Sidebar into iTunes and download it from there. It is interesting to hear him talk about how he got started in the business. His story proves how much of a genius and artist he really is.
If I could choose one cover artist to work with, it would be Marko Djurdjevic. Hands down, flat out.
Please click these links and do yourself a favour, this guy is the next generation of comic art. He is able to take it to a new level where his artwork makes these pussies out in their lofts trying to etch sunsets want to kill themselves so that their blood can be harvested and placed onto his palette.
You will not be disappointed.

Holy shit, now Marko Djurdjevic has read my blog. I am so utterly speechless. That is so unreal, he really is my favourite artist working comics. I dare you to see one cover and not agree with me. I dare you!
Marko, thanks for taking the time to check this out. It is my pleasure to write about you, completely all my pleasure. Thanks for stopping by and I’m really glad you appreciate what I wrote.
Now, I wonder if he will read my scripts and draw them…haha.
