How Bone Got His Groove Back
I have gone four straight days without writing. It sucks. I find myself questioning my skills, my motivation, my lot in life. I also find myself reflecting on a very nice long weekend away. I try not to stress. I’ll write again. Won’t we all…?
Tonight I sit down, there’s a million distractions, but there’s also an important scene that I need to finish on my purloined idea. I man up, open the Word file (yes, I do all scripting in Word, I like it!) and give it hell. I’m currently finishing the fourth page of the night, not bad when I still have some school reports to write.
I love that feeling that the writing is getting done. I opened up the file the other day and nothing came. I never push in this instance, I just assume that fate wants me to write that scene another day because inspiration will strike then, and only then, and I will be left with an Eisner award winning entry. I have faith in this, but do I truly believe it? I guess I have to, it gets me through. So I wait, and surely enough, inspiration, and motivation, mixed with perspiration, strike. I get some pages out, nice. It feels good too, some nice lines, good characterisation, some set up for the next, and final, ish, and a wicked fight scene going down. I’m happy. I have every right to be.

I wrote another page of Bobsy McMilko. I know where the story goes, but I have no idea how it will get there. That much is made abundantly clear to me each time I go to write another chapter. I am surprised, usually pleasantly, every time.

I got my monthly pull list from Minotaur today, what an early birthday present, yay! Seventeen different issues, my god, will I be able to sleep tonight? There is a Kirkman, three Brubakers, three Morrisons, an Ennis, a Guggenheim, a Slott and a Gage, a Vaughan and six, count those bad boys, six Fractions. It’s going to be a good week! I know that adds up to eighteen…but Iron Fist is co-written, ha ha!

My brother got the third season of the US The Office in the mail the other day. Cannot wait for a full weekend of coffee and watching that, getting our Dwight’s on at every laugh!

I believe The Incredible Hulk comes out this week. I don’t think it will be any sort of Iron Man, but I have to have faith in Ed Norton, I just have to. Plus: Heard that Damon Lindelof has finished nearly all of the Ultimate Wolverine Vs Hulk scripts, so once Leinil Francis Yu is finished with Secret Invasion, it should be right to roll.

I have not read any of the Dark Tower comics, but I do plan to pick them up in trade; I read the entire series of books and loved the shit out of them! This week I heard some similar crazy news. The Stand is coming to comics, much like Dark Tower has; check out the news and the art on the link back there. I think this is one I might just pick up in floppies, it just seems like an awesome project, and if the critical and commercial success of the Dark Tower comics is anything to go by, this should be pretty pretty good. I have my own plans for a Stephen King spin off comic from one of his titles, hopefully sales for this will pave the way for me to write my Long Walk Tales…

I’m twenty-six tomorrow. Lame. Over a quarter century, and we slowly roll downhill to thirty. Ugh…I guess…
