Lately
Having finished my purloined idea, I find myself floating in a sea of uncertainty.
When I’m working on a project I am completely wrapped up and immersed in it. It is just about all I can think about, and then when I am done, I find myself mentally wandering. I know I still have to proof the purloined project, and I have it all printed off to do; I cannot proof on the computer screen, I need hardcopy. I also want to get a little time between myself proofing and the writing of it. Get some distance and perspective, it’s how I roll.
So, what next?
I know I have plenty of stuff to work on. The amount of paper I am taking with me on holidays shows that, and I discussed that in a previous post. I have eight issue scripts to proof, plus a short story. I have also printed off the first 12grand words of Bobsy McMilko to look through in one sitting, see how it goes down…
But having a dance card full of proofing is nowhere near as much fun as having things to write. All my other stuff seems to be in a planning stage, which to me can be kind of lame, but kind of different too. I guess I’m just sad because one project is finished for now. It’s weird to see it done, even though it is not done, it will need proofing and rewriting in certain areas.
Put on top of this it is the last week of term and I’m trying to make sure I have my program ready for next term. I think I am done, but it has been weighing on me. Stupid work!

I’ve been making notes on a possible screenplay. A love story. Purely notes at this stage.

I am about to start reading Dashiell Hammett’s Red Harvest. I will also take another book on hols with me, just in case. Maybe J.G. Ballard’s Crash.

I may be a little absent here over the next two weeks, but be happy knowing that I will be drinking lots, catching up with many quality people and doing some relaxed work.
Be merry.
