A Captain America film is coming, this we know. Marvel has slated it for a 2010 release, if memory serves me correct.

Captain America is the story of Steve Rogers, a guy who was too skinny to fight in the world war so he was used in a test for a super-soldier serum The test was successful, Steve Rogers was trasformed into the greatest battle soldier the US forces ever saw. Heightened levels of strength, endurance, dexterity and athleticism. He became the figure head for the battle against Hitler and the Nazi party.

From that information what do you think he looks like? If you guessed blonde hair, blue eyes and buff then you are correct young student.

That’s why I don’t understand why the rumour mill keeps throwing Will Smith into the role.

Yes, Will Smith is a big name actor, and a good one to boot, but he is not Steve Rogers. I know, how dare I make sucha racist comment. Saying a black man isn’t the Aryan counter proposal to Hitler’s perceived perfection. But there, I said it.

It’s a shame, but there are sometimes limitations to casting. There’s nothing that can be done, but there are limitations.

I think Haley Joel Osmond is a fantastic actor, but I don’t want to see him playing Batman.

Michael Douglas may be a white guy who probably likes tights, but I don’t want to see him playing Robin.

Evangeline Lilly may be the sexiest greatest actress to have ever lived, but she can’t step up and be Daredevil in my planned reboot for the series.

Sorry guys, and girl, but them’s the breaks. There are limitations and one of them is that Steve Rogers has to be blonde and white, it is part of the character.

Now, if Will Smith wants to play The Falcon he can go for it, or Isaiah Bradley, sure, but not Cap, he just ain’t it, just like I’m not the Black Panther.

But David Wenham will be my Matt Murdock, oh yes, he will.
