Everything You Need To Know
I’ve read Noir for the second time. I like it and have some changes to effect, which I will begin tomorrow morning, bright and early at about 5:15am, after my shower wakes me up.
I’ve finished reading Moby-Dick, and I honestly enjoyed it. Yeah, it’s didactic, yeah, it tells you more about whaling than you ever wanted to ask, but it is an impressive feat of literature, and a good story at the same time. I am very glad that I took the time to read it, and its hundreds of pages of annotations, commentary and appendices.
I am starting to read The Brimstone Bed, so that’s nice and short and fun and not some literary tome that will take up months of my life. It’s a nice change of pace.
I’m up to about 11 or 12k on my latest novel, a spy-fi piece of fiction, but I have taken pause to finish working on Noir, and also to plan ahead and around on my PKD-ian trip. I am looking at what characters will come into it, where they have come from and where they will all go. I like the story and think it has huge potential. I was explaining some of the science in it to a friend, and he completely glazed over. I think I know way too much about space and its physics.
My holiday is officially over, and back to work I go tomorrow. But only for four weeks then off to France and Italy.
Life can be kind.
