thoughtballoons – Mephisto B-Sides – Track 1
Last week’s thoughtballoons character was Mephisto. He was a character where it took me a few goes to just get it right. I actually penned two scripts before my final piece came to me and I set it up, here, you can go read it here! Or click the image below to go to the site and read all of the scripts, we’ve done Iron Man, Molecule Man, Mephisto, and this week is Dr Doom. It’s a blast, go check it out!
But what of those first two scripts, were they woefully terrible? Hrmf, maybe, but I’m far too close to decide…well, that’s a lie. I kind of know what I think of them, there’s a reason I didn’t use them in the first place, and I’m sure you’ll know why when you read them. But, in the hope of always being brutally honest with myself, and with my dead Constant Reader, I thought I’d put these scripts up. One today, one a little later on. So, because Mephisto would never want further ado, here’s the man in red in a little tale I like to call ‘In A Bind’
1. Mephisto walks down a long and lonesome road. It’s dark and Mephisto almost emanates his own seedy red light light.
Caption: I do this a lot, you know. More than you’d think.
2. Mephisto is walking past a bar, some real hick bar called The Hickory Stump. There are trucks in the car park, along with one single light post. There is music coming out of the bar, we see the notes floating through the air.
Caption: It never takes long.
3. Mephisto smiles.
Caption: In this part of the country, you can’t go five miles without finding some idiot ‘sawing’ on his fiddle.
4. See panel 2 but Mephisto starts to walk towards the bar.
Caption: And they always care to take a dare.
5. Mephisto is entering the bar door and the light on the pole has exploded, the light is gone, and we see the shattered glass raining down.
Mephisto: Boy, let me tell you what!
Caption: I’ll have this rube eating glass before the night is out, and I’ll use the rest of these hicks as finger puppets in some gravy grand guignol.
Caption: Humans? Not worth the flesh they’re printed on.
