Fate – Character Sketches

Working with Justin Greenwood on the character sketches was an unbelievable pleasure. He brought so many ideas and concepts to the table, he was a true creator and gentlemen. The following sketches show how much effort, passion, and precision he brought to the entire project. It would be much less without him.

fate sketch - ben
This is Ben, the main character who wakes up in a bed in a hospital wearing a super-costume. He has no idea who he is, or was.
fate sketches - fate
This is who Ben was, Fate, an absolute prick of a villain. He could control those around him with his pheromones. Check out his cocky stance, douche bag.
fate skecthes - stinger
This guy is my real hero of the piece, Stinger. He is a superhero whose very touch causes extreme pain. He uses this to his advantage while hand-to-hand fighting, hence the open arms and legs on his costume. I nice shin to the back of the neck will really hurt a thug. He’s a tortured soul, because it also means he can never touch his wife.
fate sketches - prometheus
This is Prometheus, the name says it all. Massive god complex, he died one day and came back for no reason, and he had unbelievable powers. He is losing grip with the real people of Earth and slowly finding that his role of protector is being meted out with more and more violence.
Because I like Justin’s other sketch of him I’ll put it up to, here it is.
fate sketches - prometheus
fate sketches - detective mills
Detective Mills has been working a pretty long time. And in that time one thing has come become abundantly clear, he hates supers. Hates them for the work they create him and for what they are. His chance to bring Fate down is not going to be missed.
fate sketches - gravedigger
Gravedigger is was Fate’s right hand man. He’s making some plans to move on up in the world. He’s one bad bad person and he’s taking Fate’s other flunkies with him.
fate sketches - sawney bean and the kids
I felt that with Sawney Bean and The Twins here Justin really came into his own. He brought so much to these three guys, well two guys and one gal. Sawney Bean is a sick cannibal who loves him some blades. I have a whole wicked back story worked out for this guy, would love to one day write it into something else. As for The Twins, I kept these guys really generic in the script, just a bit of muscle, but Justin came back with these little delights. Made me completely change who they were and how they were made. They were former acolytes of Fate who he mindfucked so hard they eventually turned feral, but still loyal to him, when he was around.

But now for what I think is my favourite character sketch, I give you Doctor Salem.
fate sketches - doctor salem
I love the look of this guy, part Green Arrow and part Doctor Strange, meets John Cassady, I mean the Drummer, haha. I would love to write a mini just about this guy and the fucked up things he has in his house. One day, and Justin will of course come along for the ride.
